Presentation: Experiences with open-source CMS
Wednesday, November 9th, 14.30
Track: Technology
Many IT-systems, including CMS are, in many organisations regarded and handled as technological "islands". Too often corporations and organisations are fascinated by functionality and not sufficiently focused on creating business value.
This means that technology and strategy are not aligned - with the risk that the organisation loses agility and is inhibited in (the implementation of) strategy.
Corporations and organisations should have an overall (thought and cocern for) software architecture. IT-systems should be able to use the same data in multiple instances and systems including data from other organisations and public administrative systems.
Focusing on Service Oriented Architecture and integration will create more value of existing IT-investments and provide the technological foundation for new businessmodels in the corporation and new ways of solving existing tasks in the organisation.
The speech will discuss the following questions:
- How can Open Source CMS support and enable this way of thinking?
- What is Open Source Software?
- Why choose Open Source CMS?
- Examples of (service orientated) architecture
A Case which shows component oriented architecture and the integration to CMS, such as:
- Loading of contents from third party website via webservice
- Loading of contents from office programs
- Third party access to CMS content via webservice
- Exchange of RSS-feeds in combination with webservices
- Authentication via LDAP (shared authentication of users for all systems in the network)
